My Favorite E.L.F. Products
I’m going to start doing these little “My Favorite” posts for some popular drugstore brands, and questions to the effect of “what are your favorite products by ______” are very frequently asked. Let me know what brands YOU want to see in my ask box!

MY FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE BRAND E.L.F. is the affordable, unbeatable prices…while not all products from E.L.F. are great, there are some real gems, usually for $3 or less!

Studio Bronzer — You get a TON of product in the Studio bronzer, and the compact is sturdy and surprisingly sleek with a huge mirror for only $3. You can use each shade separately, or just swirl them all together on your brush for a naturally looking bronze glow. (This is my favorite bronzer ever!!)
Beauty Books — There are many different versions of these Beauty Books, or 12-piece eyeshadow palettes, out there. I have tried three of them (the Natural, Smokey, and Bright eye palettes) and I was blown away by the soft, pigmented, and super blendable shades! Amazing quality eyeshadow for a ridiculously awesome price!
Studio Powder Brush — My holy grail makeup brush. I have three of these bad boys, and I use it every single day, without fail. I buff out liquid foundation with this, blend out cream blush, apply powder, bronzer, everything with this brush. It’s a must have multi-purpose brush.
Essential All-Over Color Stick — These also are nifty multi-purpose products. I love throwing these in my purse or using these when I travel because they double as a cream blush and a lip color. Pigmented and blendable, and for only $1! (My favorite shade is Pink Lemonade.)
Essential Eyelid Primer — The popular Urban Decay Primer Potion retails for $20; Too Faced Shadow Insurance goes for $18. This primer works just the same for only $1…I repeat, just one dollar!
Studio Cream Eyeliner — These are my favorite drugstore cream/gel liners! They’re smooth, pigmented, smudge-proof budge-proof, and the come in a great range of colors! These have been a staple in my makeup bag for a few years now. (Check out the shade Teal Tease for a fun pop of blue this spring/summer!)
Essential Blush — They just revamped the packaging, but the product is the exact same…soft and pigmented! My favorite shades are Glow (peach with golden shimmer) and Innocence (matte baby pink).
Mineral Eyeshadows — I’ll be honest, I’m not the biggest fan of loose powder eyeshadows because they’re messy and inconvenient…but, I can’t deny that these shadows are just plain awesome! They have a nice color selection, and the color payoff and blendability of these are wonderful. I was blown away by the mattes in this line, too!
Essential Eyelash Curler — Why waste more money on a more expensive eyelash curler when this one works just as well as my Chanel one…and again, it’s only $1…that’s $33 less than my Chanel one, and it works just the same!
Essential Super Glossy Lip Shines — For one dollar, these lip glosses are one of my favorite of all time. They have a decent shade selection, they’re not sticky, and they’re surprisingly pigmented! They smell/taste amazing, and they have SPF 15 which is an added bonus.
So please tell me, lovelies, what are YOUR favorite E.L.F. products?

beautyvips:

Maybelline SuperStay 10hour Lipstain

I love these! They are soo pigmented and bright. The packaging states it lasts 10 hours. Not so true, but then again none of those “long-lasting” formulas do. However, they last a good 6 hours. I even ate dinner and drank water without any fading. Heck, I took a nap and woke up and my lips looked just as great! It also says its a lipstain lipgloss. Now, I’ve read quite a reviews about how it doesn’t stay glossy blah blah. This is true - it only stays glossy for maybe the first 30 minutes or so. However, I really don’t care about the glossiness. I bought it for the lipstain part, and boy does it stain! I’m indifferent to whether it stays glossy or not, so I personally have no problems with that because I only wanted a stain anyways, and that’s exactly what I got!

The two I bought are Pink Plush and Berry Heavenly. Something else that some people may say is negative, is how the lid is supposed to show what color you’re getting, but the lip product is much darker than that. I think people assume the stains are going to be lighter because the lids are clear. But the product does stay true to the lid color.

All in all, this is a great product and I will definitely repurchase it! 9/10

*edit: these also smell really good and don’t taste horrible!

Lip Love: CVS Haul

Hey lovelies! I picked up a few lip products from CVS, and I am quite pleased with what I purchased!

First, I got another Revlon Lip Butter…what can I say, I’m just so in love with this lip product. I got the shade Pink Truffle, and it reminds me a lot of Berry Smoothie on my lips, but it doesn’t have any shimmer like Berry Smoothie does. I really like the shade, nonetheless—it’s opaque, smooth, and hydrating.

I figured I’d give the L’Oreal Colour Riche Balms a try, since they’re compared to the Lip Butters which I adore. In reviews, I read these were less pigmented than the Revlon Lip Butters, which I can’t judge the whole line from the one I have, but the one I bought (Caring Coral) is pretty pigmented. They feel more greasy as compared to the Lip Butters, but I do like this lip product.

Then I thought I’d try some of these new Wet n Wild Megashield Lipsticks, and I bought a Birthday Suit (frosty nude) and Pink Champagne (frosty peachy pink). Not as moisturizing as the Revlon Lip Butters, but these feel really great on the lips regardless! The packaging is woeful, though—the product doesn’t go down any farther than shown in the picture, and the lipstick mashes up against the side of the tube when I use it, which sucks. But other than the packaging, these lipsticks are pretty great! (And CVS is currently having a 30% off ALL Wet n Wild sale!! Stock up, beauties!)

altheasilver asked: Thank you for the quick replie, but i think I should have frased my question diffrently, I am 22. I love the 1940s style. Especially the beautiful makeup. It's the milkey white, perfect skin i strive to get. I am at loss when it comes to what kind of foundations and powders to use. Love your blog btw ^^

Ohhh! I’m sorry, I totally misinterpreted your question! Haha, let’s try this again!

For super flawless looking skin, go for a full coverage foundation. Revlon PhotoReady or Colorstay are good drugstore options, and some good high-end options are Makeup For Ever HD, Laura Mercier Silk Creme, and Cover FX Total Coverage Cream Foundation. If you have pretty good skin to start with (as in you don’t have a lot of problem areas you want to conceal) then Neutrogena Healthy Skin would be a great foundation that isn’t as full-coverage.

For powder to set the foundation, Rimmel Stay Matte powder would be a great option to set your makeup. If you’re really after a super flawless, perfect face, go for Makeup For Ever HD Powder to set your foundation. Blush is really important for that era of makeup, too. They created a triangle shape, from the apple of the cheek, to the cheekbone, and back to the temples. Go for shades of rose, deeper pinks, even reds (applied with a light hand!)

I apologize again for my confusion…I hope this is of help to you! The 40’s had gorgeous makeup, and it’s such a classic style. And I’m glad you love the blog! :)

altheasilver asked: So, I strive to master the looks of the early 40s. But I must admit I need some advice. May you give some tips on how to apply that milky white skin tone and what products to use perhaps?

Probably the most important thing is to maintain a good skincare routine, as that will help far more than makeup will. In addition to just cleansing, moisturizing, and exfoliating, I definitely recommend treating yourself to moisturizing face masks. You can also look into products with antioxidants and vitamin A in them (just talk to your doctor or dermatologist).

For makeup and getting that flawless face, less is more! Use a tinted moisturizer if you can—Physicians Formula and Laura Mercier are great options. If you want something more full coverage, my favorite foundation to use on older beauties is the L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift foundation! I used it on my mother, who is close to your age, and on women in their 50’s, even…it’s smooth, evens out skintone, but isn’t heavy. Plus, it has as a collagen complex in it, which makes skin look luminous and gorgeous. It’s the foundation my mom uses everyday, now!

I hope this helps! :)
